This week my Anders Chair from West Elm finally arrived.
Cute, right? Then, it hit me: I’m basically done furnishing my condo. I still have a few things here and there to add, but for the most part, it’s complete. So, what now?
How about this bathroom?
When I moved in, I replaced the sink and painted it navy. While I love the navy it is dark and makes the tiny bathroom feel tiny. To clarify, I don’t want to completely remodel my bathroom. It doesn’t make sense to put too much work and money into it. But, I do want to make some small changes that are affordable and will make the space much nicer:
- Change up the hardware: My shower curtain bar needs replacing, the towel bars don’t match. Overall, the hardware needs a refresh,
- Paint it lighter: This was a hard one. I really love the navy color, but it’s also such a small space. I think a lighter color will make it feel just a bit bigger.
- Change the lighting: The light is not my style, I’m changing it.
- More shelving: I have so little storage, so a little more shelf space never hurts
- Nail polish display/storage: Fun and necessary 🙂
- Replace medicine cabinet: It’s not even painted white wood, it’s tape
Here a couple of my favorite bathrooms for inspiration…
Let’s start with the “if I had endless money to spend” mood board because those are more fun, right?
one. Daydream (Green) Tile by Julie Rothman (Hyggee & West) // two. Montclair Double Sconce (Schoolhouse Electric) // three. The Baker’s Jar (Anthropologie) // four. Marble Wall-Mounted Shelf (CB2) // five. Andorra 23in Wall Mirror (Home Depot) // six. Baies Scented Candle (Nordstrom) // seven. Kohler Purist Single Towel Bar in Vibrant Modern Brushed Gold // eight. Kohler Purist Sink Faucet in Vibrant Modern Brushed Gold // nine. Diamond Bathstyle Turkish Bath Towel from bathstyle (Etsy) // ten. Kohler Vertical Toilet Tissue Holder in Vibrant Modern Brushed Gold // eleven. Kohler Purist Towel Ring in Vibrant Modern Brushed Gold // twelve. Tulum Tile (Cement Tile Shop) // thirteen. Grayson Rug Ivory (Domino)
Since I don’t have $116 to spare on a toilet paper holder, this dream bathroom will have to wait. So, I switched the gold hardware for chrome, wallpaper for paint, and got started on a new mood board.
Everything featured here (minus towels, shower curtain, soap, nail polish, rug, candle) totals just about $650. Not cheap, but definitely not horrible for a bathroom makeover. The floor tile will probably come at a later date.
one. Benjamin Moore Spring Mint Paint // two. Progress Lighting Archie Collection 2-Light Chrome Bath Light // three. Broan Styleline 26in x 16in Stainless Steel Metal Recessed Medicine Cabinet // four. IKEA RIBBA Picture Edge // five. Gatco Channel 20.13in Glass Shelf // six. Ralph Lauren Joshua Tree Scented Candle // seven. World Market Beneath The Trees Lavender Hand Soap // eight. Delta Trinsic Towel Ring in Polished Chrome // nine. Rust Proof Adjustable Double Straight Shower Curtain Rod in Chrome // ten. Delta Trinsic Single Post Toilet Paper Holder in Chrome // eleven. Delta Trinsic 18in Towel Bar in Chrome // twelve. Romantic Floral Scarf Shower Curtain // thirteen. Pendleton Jacquard Towel // fourteen. Magical Thinking Printed Boucherouite Rug // fifteen. Merola Tile Metro Hex White with Black Dot
I included a semi-expensive candle in this mood board too but it’s gold and it’s called Joshua Tree which automatically makes me want to try it because it’s named after a National Park. I decided on chrome over gold or brass because while I love gold, not everyone does. I will eventually be selling this condo so I want to make sure that I make some more neutral choices and not over-customizing.
This will probably be a September or October project. More to come!
